Preparation for government engagement for a large scale onshore green H2 production facility using electricity from an offshore windfarm

Motivation:

Goal7 was engaged by a floating offshore windfarm developer and a gas terminal operator who were developing a large scale onshore green H2 production facility using electricity from an offshore windfarm. The project partners had submitted a Net Zero Hydrogen Fund (NZHF) application for the project and needed Goal7 support to prepare for the next phases of government engagement. Goal7 provided advice and support to the commercial team including providing support in preparation for the government interviews and responses to questions.

Our Approach:

Goal7 worked with all of the project partners and other external consultants to support development of the project including advice and inputs to the project planning and timeline. Goal7 provided specific project and commercial support to deliver:

  • Hydrogen offtake, value chain partners and electrolyser manufacturer engagement strategies with the overall aim to de-risk the project.  Goal7 continued providing advice to the project team through the engagement
  • Goal7 advised on development of any economic model with the flexibility to assess impact of different offtaker portfolio profiles. Cross disciplinary collaboration was key to building the model, checking the validity of inputs whilst ensuring the outputs met the requirements of each partner.
  • Preparation and support for post application NZHF interview presentation, ensuring the client team could respond quickly to questions and requirements for additional information

Benefit and Impact:

Goal7 supported the project partners in preparing for NZHF application process presentations to  DESNZ (UK government department) and preparing appropriate materials to support each partners internal decision making processes.
