Goal7 managed and led on FEED and development of a community owned and operated solar array.
Motivation:
Community owned renewable energy project requiring project management support and guidance to get the project from concept to ready for planning permission application.
Our Approach:
Having already completed a feasibility study for this project, pre-application advice was obtained from the local authority and Goal7 aided in securing a grant to fund this work. The project involved the procurement of specialist contractors for electrical design, glint and glare, landscape/visual impact, and heritage assessments, ensuring all work met grant funding value-for-money requirements.
A site visit and community engagement programme were undertaken, including consultation with neighbouring properties and the wider community. Technical assessments concluded that visual impacts would be minor and could be further mitigated through strategic planting of trees, while the electrical design confirmed positive economic viability.
Finally, Goal7 developed a financial model, produced mapping and scale drawings, coordinated project documentation, and assembled a complete planning application package ready for submission to the next stage of the project.
Benefit and Impact:
Delivered a positive influence on the outcome of the project, including supplementary material to the application to improve strength of application and ability of client to flex to future requirements and information. A step forward into the next development phases of this project.
