Sustainability Disclosures for Annual Accounts

Motivation: 

The listed company client was in the process of moving from AIM to Main List which significantly increased the corporate sustainability disclosures required. Goal7 supported in understanding additional reporting obligations and advised in meeting new reporting requirements.

Our Approach: 

Goal7 presented to the client's board of directors, detailing the current sustainability disclosure reporting requirements. The QHSE team was briefed in the reporting requirements, and a plan was designed and implemented to gather the reporting data. Goal7 then designed and documented a Global Operating Process for emissions data collection and reporting across all the client's global sites. Throughout the project the client team was supported in gathering the information and reviewing data accuracy, source and emissions calculations. The data collection system was handed over to the client's team for use in annual reporting. Goal7 provided scenario analysis guidance and integrated this into the existing climate-related risk management processes. Goal7 then assisted in drafting a sustainability disclosure report based on TCFD principles and requirements incorporating client feedback, board input and Goal7 advice. The report and emissions data results were combined together into a final draft and delivered to auditors as part of the year end process. The client was supported in discussing auditor requests and providing responses to auditor questions.

Benefit and Impact: 

Goal7 successfully drafted the client's annual sustainability disclosure, including scope 1 and 2 emissions data from global sites in full compliance with UK sustainability reporting requirements. The deliverables were designed for use in subsequent years assuming the business remains within its current reporting boundaries, and while current UK requirements remain up-to-date.
